Project Description

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an assisted reproduction procedure.

It is more complex than AI because it requires an ovarian puncture to collect the ovules.

  • Prior to the ovarian puncture, the IVF procedure requires a hormonal stimulation process, which allows a sufficient number of ovules to be obtained so that the probability of success is greater. Ovarian stimulation lasts approximately 12-14 days and is achieved by administering gonadotropic hormones.

The ovarian puncture is via vaginal, guided by ultrasound and is performed under anesthetic sedation, so that the patient does not feel any discomfort.

  • The number of embryos to be transferred will never be greater than three, that way  if there are more, they can be frozen and used in subsequent attempts.

  • In Reprofiv we recommend the transfer of a single embryo in blastocyst stage to avoid multiple gestations. The new culture media and the new incubators available allow the embryo to reach the blastocyst stage in vitro, which is how, under natural conditions, an embryo reaches the uterus 5-6 days after the fertilization in the fallopian tubes.

  • In Reprofiv, the vitrification technique is used for embryo freezing because it is the most evolved and offers the best results.
